Volunteering in South Africa
Education professionals needed to volunteer in South Africa
Opportunities are now available to make a real difference as a volunteer in South Africa. We are currently urgently recruiting education specialists to help deliver an exciting new programme to improve the quality of basic education in two of the most disadvantaged provinces in South Africa.
Our Pretoria office is working with the Foundation for Professional Development on a tentative four year USAID grant to improve the skills of curriculum advisors, heads of department, principals and deputy principals working with primary school teachers..
Programme activities:
Curriculum advisors - Professional development for curriculum advisors and heads of department
VSO curriculum advisers will be embedded in teacher resource centres and will support local curriculum advisors and heads of department by facilitating communities of effective practice and peer learning opportunities.
School management advisers - Professional development for school principals
Embedded in teacher resource centres, VSO school management advisers will facilitate communities of effective practice with school principles and deputy principles to enable them to share their expertise and knowledge. They will also mentor participants and help roll out best practice.
