Volunteering in Pakistan

We’ve been in Pakistan for 28 years. The office was established in 1987 and later in 1995 a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Pakistan government.

In this time, we've engaged the skills and expertise of over 500 international volunteers.

Currently, we’re welcoming volunteers with skills in primary education, resilience/Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), women empowerment, youth engagement and secure livelihoods.  We also give special consideration to diaspora volunteers and Pakistani volunteers.

We’ve recently implemented a successful youth engagement and social cohesion project in Multan in 2015. The project was funded by STJF and reached 1183 beneficiaries. We’re also piloting a national youth exchange designed in line with ICS for promoting social cohesion and peace.

Current projects

Preventing gender-based violence (GBV) through democratic policing

Improving the ability of the police to GBV issues, manage cases effectively and refer GBV survivors to relevant services.

Pakistan Youth Initiative  

64 volunteers from Islamabad and Multan develop their skills, knowledge and understanding to engage with communities to promote peace, social cohesions and transform conflicts.

Support Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET)

Technical support for curricula design and research into the establishment of a hospitality management institute. This will strengthen TVET in Pakistan to enhance the employability of women and youth.

Enhancing Primary Education through improved education management

8 international volunteers working with the Punjab government to improve children’s access to quality primary education. Includes improved teaching practices and sensitizing community.

Reducing the impact of disasters by strengthening institutions and communities

4 International Volunteers within Punjab Emergency Services’ ‘Rescue 1122’ to provide on the job coaching to existing staff.
